I am a current member or guest of the Cascadians ("club" herein) located in Yakima, WA. I understand that the club and/or its individual members organize and/or sponsor a variety of outdoor activities, including, but not limited to, hiking, backpacking, mountain climbing, rock climbing, ice climbing, cross country skiing, ski mountaineering, bicycling, rafting, canoeing, trail construction, and trail maintenance. I understand that club members often lead such activities and that the participants in such activities have varying levels of experience and ability.
I am aware that on club sponsored activities, including those organized by club members, that certain dangers exist, including, but not limited to, the possibility of accidents or illness in remote areas without medical facilities, adverse weather conditions and other forces of nature, human error and possible equipment failure or loss. I am willingly and knowingly subjecting myself to such dangers and risks. I fully understand these dangers and risks. In the event that I use any equipment provided by the club or its members, I agree to thoroughly inspect it before use, and am aware that equipment may fail without warning or due to improper use. "Equipment" includes, but is not limited to, ice axes, ropes, pulleys, crampons, stoves, hard hats, tents, flukes, pickets, and climbing harnesses and hardware.
In consideration of the right to participate in such activities and to use such equipment, in addition to any fees which may be charged by the club to cover the cost of organizing or conducting a given activity, I hereby assume all risks of participation or use, including the risk that some other club member or group participant may be negligent. I agree to release and hold the club, its board members, its leaders and all participants in club activities, and the club's individual members, instructors and classmates harmless from any and all liability for any claims, demands, damages, actions, causes of action or suits of any kind or nature whatsoever, and particularly on account of all injuries, to either person or property, which result or may in the future develop from activities sponsored by the club and/or led by club members.
This release is binding upon my heirs, legal representatives, agents and assigns. This release shall be effective for all members of my family, including any minors accompanying me. I have read the above, understand it and fully agree to its contents. (Parent/legal guardian must sign for all persons under 18 years of age.)
