ANNUAL GRAHAM EXPEDITION
July 20-25 Ron’s Summer Car-Camp/Dayhike Expedition
Destination: South side of Mount St. Helens
This summer's car camp/dayhike trip for Cascadians will feature trails on the south side of Mount St. Helens. Dates for the trip led by Ron Graham are July 20-25, with day hikes planned each day. Some of the intended hikes include Ape Canyon, Butte Camp, Sheep Canyon, Lava Canyon and Ape Cave. If some participants want to climb St. Helens it would be necessary to secure advance permits and we would suggest such a climb be done on Wednesday. The middle day of the week is generally more open, without a formal, group destination. As usual, the week will kick off with a Sunday potluck about 6:30 p.m. Base camp is tentatively set for Swift Campground on the Swift Reservoir near the monument's Pine Creek information center. Those planning to take part in the trip should sign up at a regular monthly meeting or call Ron at 966-6480. Although the trip ends Friday, July 25 with a day hike, members will probably plan to spend Friday night at the campground or whatever accommodations they have arranged.
