Points and Rewards Program
The Cascadians Centennial Planning Committee has decided to resurrect a program of awarding points to members leading and participating in outings during the Centennial Year (2020). This system was initially used for the club's 75th anniversary. Only those events designated by the committee, under the leadership of David Hagen, are eligible for earning points. The first officially designated outing is the New Year's snowshoe/cross country ski at Bumping Lake. At least 30 specially designated "Cascadian Centennial Classics" are scheduled for the 2020 year. These outings were chosen on the basis of David's research into historic records of Cascadian outings during the past 100 years. What is the point of this Centennial program? Mostly just to have some fun and maybe heighten interest in these traditional Cascadian events. So if you're feeling inspired or perhaps your competitive juices are flowing, start filling in your calendar for 2020 with dates for hikes, mountain climbs, bicycle rides, and more.
The mechanics of the program are as follows: Leaders of Centennial events need to mark their sign-up forms clearly as Centennial outings, or use the Centennial Trip Liability Release Form so marked for this purpose, available under the Resources menu. They are also responsible to turn in these forms (in a timely manner) to points record-keeper Darrell Patterson. The culmination of the program will be at the 2021 January banquet when point totals will be announced and awards presented. So get out there and enjoy this event-filled Centennial Year!
